Why You're Struggling To Break Habits!

Hello, here's a fun fact:
New habits can be created at any point in your life — no matter how old, stubborn, or clever you are.
And here’s a another 'fun' fact:You can never truly erase an unwanted habit.
You may think you’re free of old patterns, but deep in the recesses of your psyche, your survival system is always scheming to drag you back to old familiar territory.
It’ll strike when you’re vulnerable — stir up boredom, whisper doubts, offer every reason why this new habit was never a good idea and shout over your new found confidence until you're feeling 12 inches tall again.
Like a typo in a tattoo - "NO REGRETES" can be covered up, but never quite erased.
Well! What a gloomy way to start a newsletter!
Happy summer to you all, my friends — may we be merry in the sunshine!! Thank you, and good day.
Seriously though, I'm not saying this to darken the skies, however it is true that your negative bias will constantly remind you of what you don’t want, don’t like, or will highlight what feels hurtful and harmful.
Sometimes, that bias is useful — like when you genuinely need a warning, however when your negative bias is serving you to keep you breaking the promises you want to keep to yourself - its time for Aikido - and that is a good thing because it leads me nicely into a little story…
Once upon a time, I was in an Aikido workshop with six other people. Our Sensei told us to attack him all at once and pull him to the floor. We all ran at him and grabbed hold — and for a brief moment, it seemed we had him.
But over the next few seconds, we were each gently cast aside, one by one, until we were all lying around him like sleeping children.
It was surreal — because it felt powerful. He moved us quickly and gently, yet with total control. It taught me something profound:There is immense power in redirecting energy rather than coming up against it head-on. In fact the more forceful it comes at you the more force you have to direct it to your advantage.Whether your “attacker” shows up as a craving, inertia, or something seductive — it’s just energy, and it can be put to good use.
We all know the feeling:
The donuts are on offer right next to the bananas.
The sunbed looks way more inviting than your yoga mat.
The toxic gossip pulls you in before you even notice.
Then there’s that offhand comment from your boss that stirs up that old feeling of inadequacy — again.
But what if you could harness the energy coming at you instead of reacting out of habit?
What if you could simply notice something without giving it the power to trigger an automatic response?
That slight pause makes all the difference.
It gives you a moment to witness what’s happening before your habitual patterns take over.
It’s in that tiny pause where choice becomes possible — even when everything’s moving fast. That pause gets strengthened with reflection, redirection, and repetition. If that sounds like hard work, think of it this way:You’re constantly using energy — to think, speak, act.Everything you do costs energy.
So why not spend it wisely?Instead of letting it bowl you over or forcing yourself to brace against it, learn to direct it. Yes, it takes practice — and the right framework helps — but developing this skill makes life flow in a way that serves you.And that’s worth the commitment.
And here’s a useful fact:
We’ve created a framework to support you in becoming a black belt in your ability to choose your responses — and to develop a default setting that’s aligned with your core self.
It isn’t a course.
It’s an ongoing support structure.
Our membership is a space where you’re gently held and nurtured as you gain clarity through reflection.
It’s a place to build awareness, to return to yourself, and to consistently direct your energy from your inner compass — gently, intentionally, and meaningfully.
Over time, like a Sensei, you begin to shift.
Reactive patterns give way to conscious responses.
Presence begins to replace autopilot — not through force, but through practice.
This simple, steady approach plays a powerful role in shaping a new default: one that is more joyful, more expansive, and more aligned with who you truly are.
