Weekly Astrology & Energy Forecast 23rd December 2024

As we move further into the season of winter, this week’s astrology builds on the reflective energy of the winter solstice. The energy of this week is a time of milestones and new beginnings. The Jupiter-Saturn waxing square signals the unfolding of themes seeded back in 2020, bringing tangible opportunities to reassess and recalibrate long-term goals. Adding to this momentum is the New Moon in Capricorn on the 30th, which grounds this week’s energy with a focus on concrete progress and intentional new starts.

Though there is an air of movement and change, it’s worth noting the waning Moon phase during most of the week, encouraging a release of what no longer serves. This is a moment to clear space, mentally and emotionally, for what lies ahead. Saturn’s influence reminds us that success lies in the long-term view. While it’s tempting to dive into new chapters with enthusiasm, the quieter, introspective energy of the solstice lingers, calling for stillness and thoughtful preparation. Honour this transitional time by nourishing yourself and laying the foundation for what’s to come—your forward surge is on the horizon.

Tuesday, 24th December: Jupiter in Gemini Squares Saturn in Pisces

This week kicks off with the Jupiter in Gemini square Saturn in Pisces aspect, the second square in a series that started with a conjunction of these planets in December 2020. This was a significant event, as it marked the first conjunction between Jupiter and Saturn in air signs in 200 years, setting the tone for a new era of intellectual expansion and growth. Now, as the square forms, we find ourselves at a checking-in point, reflecting on what was seeded during that initial conjunction. The energy of the square brings themes of expansion vs. contraction, urging us to find a balance between the freedom and curiosity that Jupiter in Gemini brings, and the responsibilities and limitations highlighted by Saturn in Pisces.

This is a pivotal moment for long-term planning and growth, with a focus on consequences and choices. Something is coming into form or structure. If you’ve been working towards goals that were set in motion around 2020, this is a moment to assess progress and determine whether adjustments need to be made. You may want to look at the areas of your birth chart where Gemini and Pisces fall to understand how this square is impacting you.

Thursday, 26th December: Mercury in Sagittarius Opposes Jupiter in Gemini & Squares Saturn in Pisces

On Thursday, Mercury in Sagittarius will oppose Jupiter in Gemini and square Saturn in Pisces, stirring up important conversations, particularly around long-term growth and expansion. This alignment may bring tension between our desires to explore new ideas, expand our horizons, and the limitations that we encounter along the way. Mercury’s opposition to Jupiter could spark a desire to push boundaries, while its square to Saturn reminds us of the importance of discipline, structure, and reality checks.

This aspect invites us to reflect on the tension between vision and reality, especially in areas of life where we’re looking to grow. Conversations around limitations and what is realistically achievable may surface, pushing us to find a sustainable path forward.

Friday, 27th December: Venus in Aquarius Square Uranus in Taurus

On Friday, Venus in Aquarius will square Uranus in Taurus, creating tension in relationships and areas of life where you might feel the pull between the traditional and the unconventional. Venus in Aquarius values freedom, individuality, and progress, while Uranus in Taurus disrupts the status quo and challenges our attachment to stability, especially when it comes to material and physical matters.

This square can bring sudden changes or disruptions in relationships or finances, particularly if you're grappling with the tension between what feels safe and secure versus the need for independence and new experiences. You may be called to examine the areas of life where you’re holding onto old patterns or structures that are no longer serving you.

Sunday, 29th December: Chiron Stations Direct

On Sunday, Chiron stations direct in Aries, marking a shift from introspection to forward movement. When Chiron is retrograde, the focus is on inward healing, revisiting past wounds, and processing emotional pain. Now that Chiron is moving direct, the focus shifts to integration and forward growth. Themes of self-healing and empowerment become more pronounced as Chiron moves through Aries, the sign of individuality and courage.

This is a period where we are asked to integrate lessons learned from past wounds, particularly around independence, self-confidence, and assertion. Chiron in Aries can highlight both the strengths and the shadow side of self-focused energy—too much independence can lead to selfishness or aggression, while unbalanced energy can manifest as impulsiveness or a tendency to act before thinking. This is a powerful time to assess where you are on your personal healing journey and how you can harness Chiron's energy to move forward with confidence.

Monday, 30th December: New Moon in Capricorn

The week culminates with the New Moon in Capricorn on Monday, a time for setting intentions and laying the groundwork for the coming year. Capricorn is a cardinal earth sign, known for its practicality, structure, and ambition. This New Moon invites us to plant seeds for long-term goals, especially those related to our material world—our careers, finances, and the practicalities of life.

While it’s a time of new beginnings, Capricorn encourages us to play the long game rather than rushing forward with excitement. The energy of this New Moon is more about planning, structuring, and creating practical step-by-step goals that will help us build a solid foundation for future success. The Moon is in its detriment in Capricorn, meaning it’s far from its home sign of Cancer, so emotions may feel more restrained, and there’s an emphasis on cold practicality rather than emotionality. Use this energy to set realistic goals and start formulating a plan that you can work steadily towards, laying the groundwork for a productive and successful year ahead.

Enjoy this pivotal yet quiet and introspective energy that the rest of the year has to bring. I’ll be back on 6th January with another forecast.
