What goes around...

Updated: Aug 26, 2022

Through conversations with clients and friends of late it is apparent that many of us are experiencing surges of nervousness (to put it mildly) as systems that we have relied upon, both personal and in the wider world for our basic security seem to be quaking at their roots. This can be scary as the unknown rears it head, however, it is also true that you can't make an omelette without cracking eggs and, in the breaking down of anything there is opportunity to create something new and improved.

Let us take heed from the wisdom of the the cycle of the omelette:

Life, as well as nature, the moon, the planets, naturally moves in cycles and ebbs and flows; our constant in and out breath, preparing a meal, doing the laundry, walking the dog, as well as the larger cycles of relationships, projects, events and, more obviously, our life stages, the cycle of the day/month/year. Life isn’t linear, nothing is constant and getting practiced at recognising the archetypal stages of a cycle helps us to stay on track with enjoying life, it also helps to support us through more challenging times.

We are now at the peak of the cycle of the year and this outward vibrant energy is mirrored in the fullness of nature, the creations that can only be present because of the clearing, resting, nurturing, and manifesting stages that complete the whole.

At the peak of any cycle we are in the process of expansion. The energy of expansion has a quality that can take experiences deep into our systems and secure our beliefs, attitudes and expectations. Depending on the strength and type of the experience, this can serve to help us thrive or drop deeper into survival. Like most of us, on the surface I veer between different states of emotions such as anxiety, sadness, anger, doubt as well as joy contentment, peace and compassion. However it is our core beliefs, attitudes and expectations that create the foundation of our well being. These are created through constant reinforcement of our thoughts and feelings and, as our thoughts and feelings direct our attention, we tend to seek out experiences that align with our beliefs and expectations. When we get stuck in cycles of negativity it is detrimental to our health and happiness. As ever, in the wise system of the healing cycle there are ways we can direct our energy and create a strong foundation, so at a peak of a positive experience we strengthen a core that is optimistic, joyful, peaceful and stays steady and strong. And, during less desirable experiences our emotions can stay on the surface and be easily processed.

In terms of our evolution we are without a doubt at a peak in a cycle, things have reached their limits in many ways. At this time it is crucial to be aware of what we are expecting in our personal lives and the wider world. The future isn't written yet and we have a say in what will go down in history in the future. What we think, feel and do on a moment by moment basis continually creates our story and lays the foundation for the next bit of the journey.

The most important moment of your life is this one

With simple regular practices that keep us aware of where our focus is and how we are feeling we can continue to hold the vision and steer the wheel even in those moments when we are clinging to the outer edge and holding on for dear life! That way the chaos doesn't spin into to the centre of us, instead it holds firm and steady and stays on track despite the buckles and punctures (i'm enjoying this analogy😊⚙️). It also seg ways beautifully into my next point which is very pleasing:

Imagination is more important than knowledge. Knowledge is limited. Imagination encircles the world.

Albert Einstein

Use your imagination to get creative and playful, expand a positive state so you can find the strength and enthusiasm to live what you love and pass it on.

We can stay in worry, re-live past trauma and dream up the worst case scenarios until the cows come home and never be able to shift our state or access solutions as negativity contracts and blinds us to potential solutions.

What are you weaving more of  into your life? What kind of a world are you contributing to?

Keep reminders around your house, do things that you love, nourish yourself, take time in your day to dance, stretch, move, release and rest, find the good news in the world, look for acts of kindness and generosity, seek out the peaceful protests (there are plenty happening) and join in!

Having said all of this:

This isn't about putting plasters on broken legs! Attending to fears, trauma's anxieties are a valuable stage of any cycle, and an important part of the healing process. In the resources below there are ways to help specifically with transforming anxiety. There are also times to seek help and please do so at anytime you feel the need for support.

At times of expansion and outward energy, it is also valuable to stay nourished and energised so we can use this opportunity to its fullest potential. Burnout and adrenal fatigue can be the flip side of too much outward energy. Check out our August Natures Rhythms update for practices to keep your energy balanced as we move through a fiery and vibrant time.

Dare to dream big and see what happens...

At the peak of any cycle we are in the process of expansion. When this peak is full of joy/wholeness/good health/contentment, we more easily receive and register these qualities that have an impact on our beliefs, attitudes and expectations. The same is true when we are at a less desirable peak say of fear, anxiety or depression. As ever in the wise system of the healing cycle there are ways to direct the process the stages so we move towards thriving rather than getting stuck in negative habits that hold us back.

Life naturally moves in cycles and ebbs and flows; our constant in and out breath, preparing a meal, doing the laundry, walking the dog, as well as the larger cycles of relationships, projects, events and, more obviously, our life stages, the cycle of the day/month/year. Getting practiced at recognising the stages help us to stay on track with creating a life that is fulfilling to us and also supports us through more challenging times. The energy of expansion has a quality that takes experiences deep into our system and can transform emotions, beliefs and attitudes and expectations. Depending on where our focus is, this can serve us to thrive or drop deeper into survival. It is the realm of the Aha moment that is registered throughout the body. As we are in the peak of the year now this outward vibrant energy is mirrored on the fulness of nature, the long days and the warmth that this time brings is calling on us to celebrate life and pay attention to the fulness of our cycles.

Through clients and conversations with friends of late it is apparent many of us are experiencing surges of nervousness (to put it mildly) as systems (both personal and in the wider world) that we have relied on for our basic security seem to be quaking and floundering at their roots. It seems that anything that isn’t serving or has gone un noticed or ignored is coming up to be dealt with. This can be scary as the unknown rears it head or exciting as it creates opportunity for change for the better. Being totally honest, like most of us I veer between those two states although I strongly believe that what doesn’t serve us gets in the way of living rich and fulfilling lives and, you cant make an omellete without cracking eggs!

In terms of our evolution we are without a doubt at a peak in a cycle, things have reached their limit in many ways and I find that remembering that peaks trun inot stages of letting go and letting go makes space to create a new. It is also crucial to be aware of where our focus is at this time because what we focus on expands even further, the future isn't written yet and we have a say in what will go down in history in the future. tis is also true in our personal lives, what we think, feel and do on a moment by moment basis continually creates our story and lays the foundation for the next bit of the journey.

It also seg ways in beautifully into my next point which is very pleasing:

Imagination is more important than knowledge. Knowledge is limited. Imagination encircles the world.

Imagination fuels our feeling and our feelings surge us forward to create. Imagination also helps us to get creative and playful, find the strength and enthusiasm to live what we love and pass it on. Any time we calm our stress response we open up to bringing in and expanding possibilities that our blind to us when we contract in fear.

Use your imagination to explore your capacity to contribute to a world that thrives. We can think away, worry, dream up the worst case scenarios until the cows come home and never be able to shift our state or access solutions. and yet a curious and playful approach gives us access to solutions, dares us to dream big and fuels our courage and compassion. Play with ways to expand your feelings of optimism.
