Springtime! Follow Your Bliss.

Updated: Jun 24, 2021

Are you in alignment, feeling satisfied and living the life you want to live?

Spring is now in full swing, energy is spiralling out and it's time to set the tone for the year ahead.

There are so many cycles working simultaneously all around us that we can tap into at any time. The cycles of the moon, of the seasons, of our lives, of the day and so many more. In a society that values constant productivity above all else, putting into practice the wisdom that these cycles offer is essential in creating balance and harmony in our lives. When we honour these cycles and all of the phases, we support a life that has more ease and flow.

From the perspective of the Chinese medicine wheel, spring time is the energy of wood. Wood energy is forthright, persistent and encourages action and growth. It is energetic and vital.

We are now in that time of the year that aligns most strongly with our cultures values, however, productivity for productivity's sake can lead us to short lived satisfaction, disappointment, frustration and often inertia. On the other hand, when we consciously align our actions with how we want to live our lives our energy gets massaged as we move forward, feeding our natural enthusiasm for life. We can do this by simply following our bliss.

“If you do follow your bliss you put yourself on a kind of track that has been there all the while, waiting for you, and the life that you ought to be living is the one you are living. Follow your bliss and don't be afraid, and doors will open where you didn't know they were going to be.”

Joseph Campbell

The energy of spring offers us the chance to harness that persistent energy of growth in a sustainable and satisfactory way. As we leave behind us the slow, still energy of winter this can also be a time of year when we can feel stuck, frustrated or angry, wanting to move forward but not feeling in alignment with this natural outward spiral. If this is the case for you, giving your liver a helping hand can really help you on your way.

In many ancient clinical documents in Chinese, Greco - Roman and Medieval cultures this time of year is linked to the liver and the gallbladder . These organs house the emotions of anger and frustration which can be transformed into assertive action and finding healthy boundaries. If you are feeling stuck or stagnant, frustrated or angry working to support these organs through energy exercises, somatic practices such as yoga and movement along with detoxing and nourishing can be key in being able to assert action and get you on the path to creating your dreams. We have been focusing on harnessing all of the offerings spring brings to us in our A Handpicked Life Membership.

Physically, mentally, emotionally or energetically, nature always provides us with what we need in order to thrive. To help us understand more of nature's bounty this month, our guest facilitator workshop is 'The Wild Medicine of Spring'. Jessie Martelhof will be teaching us what is growing wild this season in our locality, a great way to connect with nature and enhance our own wellbeing.

Join us live on Zoom on Saturday 24th April @ 12pm and learn about the wide-ranging medicinal properties of some UK native wild spring plants including Dandelion, Nettles and Cleavers. These plants all have a long history of use in Western Herbal Medicine. Learn how you can safely identify, harvest, and turn these common weeds into home herbal remedies using simple techniques. Grab your tickets here.

Oh and just for the record...All of these spring plants support our liver in detoxing and shifting stagnant energy. See, told you nature was always working for you!
