Purpose is a fundamental component for a fulfilling life. When you have a reason for doing something, a reason to get out of bed in the morning that you genuinely believe in, you feel engaged and have direction.
I found the work of Simon Sinek earlier this year and it has played a fundamental part of the framework I have used to build my business and the coaching program I teach to my clients. His idea is simple, "people don't buy what you do they buy why you do it".
We are drawn to organisations and businesses who express their beliefs. Who put time care and attention into understanding us, to help us to feel like we a part of something. But why? The need to feel like we are a part of something bigger, to be part of a group of people aligned with a single purpose is human nature. To be part of a community. A tribe.
As a business owner, entrepreneur or leader, aligning with your purpose and showing up consistently is not only an effective way to grow your business, connect with people and build trust. But it is a sustainable and enjoyable way for you to provide genuine value to the people you seek to serve. Going through the motions and doing something to make money and because its what you 'should' do feels completely different to being aligned with something you believe in, something that matters to you.
We spend a third of our lives working and I believe it is important for us to enjoy and genuinely care about what we do. More fulfilled and happier people naturally contribute to creating a happier, more free and authentic world.
"Words may inspire, but its only action that creates change. Most of us live our lives by accident. Fulfilment comes when we live our lives on purpose"
